Eligibility
Awardees must be current members of MCEP/ACEP/EMRA; enrolled and in good standing as student at an accredited school or college of medicine in the State of Michigan; with an intent to pursue graduate medical education in an emergency medicine (or EM-combined) residency program.
Criteria
The purpose of this award is to annually recognize an outstanding medical student from a Michigan medical school who demonstrates excellence in his/her studies and displays a genuine enthusiasm for pursuing a career in emergency medicine.
Guidelines
The recipient will have exemplified leadership and service to medical organizations, humanism/professionalism, scholarly achievement, community service and research/publications.
Entry Procedures
Any member may nominate a medical student by completing the nomination form available on the website. All entries must be postmarked by August 1st, for consideration for the award given in that year. The Medical School Outreach Committee will present a slate of qualified nominees to the Board of Directors at the September meeting.
Judging
The Board of Directors will vote on the nominees at the September meeting. A majority vote of the entire Board of Directors will be required. The decision of the Board is final, and the Board reserves the right to make no award if there are no nominees of sufficient merit. The award will be presented at the December Board of Directors Meeting.
