ACEP Launches Video Campaign to Expose Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield for Denying Coverage to Emergency Patients

Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield has announced it will not pay for emergency visits in six states — Indiana, Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, New Hampshire and Ohio — if the company
decides after the fact that patients were not having medical emergencies, even if they thought they were. Unless stopped, this policy will be implemented in more Anthem states, and additional health insurance companies will follow with policies of their own. This policy is unlawful because it violates the prudent layperson standard that is in federal law and 47 state laws. Visit FairCoverage.org
