Difficult Airway Course

Purpose:  Airway management is the most critical skill in Emergency Medicine.  This course is designed to provide participants with state-of-the-art information and hands-on experience that ensure effective and appropriate management of airway emergencies.

Target Audience:  This airway course is intended for Emergency Physicians.

Course Objectives:  Upon successful completion of the course, the participant will be able to:

  • Know when and how to use Rapid Sequence Intubation (RSI) in emergency airway management.
  • Identify and manage the difficult airway.
  • Identify and manage the failed airway.
  • Choose adjunct equipment to assist in management of the difficult airway.

Course Highlights: 

  • "SIM MAN" An opportunity will be provided to practice rapid sequence intubation and other airway management techniques on Sim Man.  Sim Man spontaneously breathes and is able to accommodate a wide range of basic and advanced airway interventions.
  • Small Group, hands-on training.  You will handle and use all devices.
  • Focused sessions on Pediatric Airway, Trauma, Medical Emergencies, Difficult and Failed Airways.
  • Emphasis on rescue strategies and practice devices.
  • Detailed instruction and practice in managing a difficult airway in a variety of patient scenarios.
  • Tuition includes the new edition of the Manual of Emergency Airway Management, by Ron M. Walls, MD, FACEP.

Registration limited to the first 28 registrants.
